Other than the touch pad is there any reason to spend more for the 2015?
I need 500 gig SSD and 16 gig of ram
I do memory intensive work photography and some video editing.
I like my 17" 2010 2.6 I7 and 500 gig sad but its 8 gig of Ram is barely enough. Also the buss is only usb 2.0 with firewire.

I don't see any other upgrades I can make to it. Not sure if its going to be earth shattering buying a new computer or not.
But for the $350 difference in price is the 2014 15" a better deal?

I think the 2014 for $1799 is an excellent deal. If you're paying more than that, I'd just get the 2015.

I just picked up my mid 2014 rMBP from apple and so far so good. got it refurbished for what I think is a good deal.

How much of a difference is the processing power compared with my 2.66 I7 mid 2010 Mac with the 2014 model?
the 16 gig of ram should make a difference I am sure but I wonder what the bench marks are?

the benchmarks for every mac made over the last 10 years can be found here.

To make it easy though it will be a massive difference, much faster processors far better graphics, superfast Solid state storage and great RAM in large amounts. Not to mention AC wireless, bluetooth 4.0, USB 3, HDMI and thunderbolt 2 connections and last and by all means most that retina screen is worth the upgrade all on it's own.
