changed battery(which was quite a chore) and now have no keyboard or track pad. and it has slowed to a crawl.
did apple plant a bug to prevent DIY attempts? does anyone know how to fix this problem or do I have a new door stop? OS ver 10.15.6 dual core i7

The MacBook will be very slow if the OS does not detect a battery.

I changed the battery in my mid-2014 13" and had no problems after putting everything back together.

One thing I did not want to do was apply solvent to loosen the adhesive. Instead, I used a thin piece of braided nylon twine and slid it down between the battery and top case to cut through the adhesive.

Did you check for physical damage to the logic board? Tried reseating the keyboard and trackpad cable?

Thanks for the information. I didn't use solvent either but worked an old credit card under the battery sections to release them. Not sure how to ck. the logic board for damage but will try reseating the the cables as you suggest. Hopefully that will solve that part of the problem. System report shows battery info so I don't think that is a problem. Do you think reinstalling the OS might help? Will let you know how things work out.

I think I found my problem. I may have gotten a bit too aggressive removing the old battery and damaged the trackpad ribbon cable.:( Thanks for your help. Will let you know how it goes if and when I get a replacement.

That's too bad. If I recall correctly, the keyboard connects to the trackpad which connected to the logic board.
