Is there much of a difference between these two models?

My sister needs a new comp and while I was super excited to go and get the new one I can't live with all the dongles and adaptors. I use USB, SD and HDMI often.

So I was thinking to get the late 2016 and give her my mid 2014.

Just wondering what the difference is with the chips and internals.

I guess my specific question is what processor is in the MacBook Pro I would by buying if I buy the one now on Apple? And will i see a big difference from my machine?

2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, 500 gig Flash

You just said you can't live with all the dongles/adapters, so why would you get a 2016 model?

My question is the NON touch bar 15" model that is for sale now. Did that see an update inside. Or is that just the mid 2015 still? I can't find info on it.

There is no 2016 non touch bar 15 inch model, and all of the 2016 models have only the USB-C ports. I think you may be getting confused with the 2015 model, which is still for sale on the apple site.

Yes, thats the one. I was wondering what was inside. What differences I would see.
Forced touch track pad I see, just wondering on processor, I called Apple and she didn't know the name of it inside there.

I guess I'm like a lot of people, I have always tried to buy the best available... I guess I could try the USB 3's and see how I survive

You haven't mentioned what you'll be using it for but unless you're doing really intensive tasks, I think it's probably a bit of a waste of money to go from the 2014 to the 2016 model just because. It's obviously your money to do with as you please, but if there's nothing wrong with your current machine and you don't want the hassle of USB C then couldn't you just get your sister a refurbished 2015 MBP and be done with it?

And then when you really need more power, get the latest machine available at that time.

I hear you. And nothing too intense at all for my usage. So I definitely don't need anything more.

Just want 512HD and not available on Refurb. Can I pay them to add it???

I ended up ordering the Late 2016 with the touch bar. I went in to play with it again at the Apple store...
Order me a mens medium "Team Touch Bar" shirt. I love it!

2.6, 16ram, 512hd - Super pumped!
