So I'm thinking about trading in my 15" 2.2 mid-2015 MBP for the new 2019 13" base model. Apple is saying they will give me $750 for the 15" and I can get the 13" for $1200 with the Beats as well (should be able to sell for $150ish). So for a differential of around $300 I'd be getting the base 13" as a more portable computer with what looks like a good bit more CPU performance (from the geekbench scores).
This wouldn't be a real replacement as I'm still interested in picking up the 16" MBP when it drops, but this 15" has some freezing issues (locks up for a few seconds every 30 min or so) and the battery life isn't that great (1500mah below the full capacity), so it's more of a stopgap (and a more portable device). I figure I'd keep the 13" with the 16" and just use it as a lightweight backup, or sell it.
Has anyone done something similar? The better screen, better CPU, and smaller size would be nice coming from the somewhat aging 2015. I also assume if I wanted to sell it when the 16" drops that I'd probably get back that $300 difference compared to the 15"...
