Having spent hours and hours trying to educate myself on which monitor to buy for my mid 2017 MBP, I humbly approach the bench with a couple of questions:

I am considering the BenQ PD2500Q, which is on the low end of monitor choices but fits my senior citizen fixed income budget.
and screen size preferences and pretty darn basic computer application uses.

Since this monitor has no Thunderbolt or USB C ports , but has Display Port and others, will connecting this monitor it via a DisplayPort /USB C cable to my MBP have any effect on the resolution or other standard optical or audio features that this monitor offers?

I do no photo editing but may try to do some in the future.

I realize this cable will not charge the MBP, but I am willing to not have this convenient feature.

The probability of using dual monitors in the future is low.

And even more basically, can I indeed use this cable with my MBP, or should I check the couch for dropped coins and consider buying a pricier USB C /thunderbolt ported monitor?

Finally, would a 25 inch monitor be big enough to display 2 spreadsheets side by side?

And I just realized that perhaps this Question should have been posted to the Mac Accessories section but if This is So I would appreciate info how to do that.
