I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this, and should I still send the Macbook for repairs?

Last night I connected a USB-C adapter for USB ports that I've used before. I noticed that it was not detected. I re-plugged it a few times - but nothing. The Mac did not give any warnings.

As my Battery got to 50% I plugged the charger in and that's when I realized the Mac would NOT recognize a charger. I tried all 4 ports and 2 chargers - none of them were accepted.

I reset SMC ports, I reset it a few times - nothing. Just would not see external power. However the USB-C ports DID accept other USB-C devices like a USB stick. But when plugging the Power adapters in - it would not register anything connected.

After leaving the device for 10 hours in deciding what to do, I thought let me try it again. I plugged power in an now and suddenly it worked! It began charging the battery and it recognized the chargers.

I have no idea what could cause this?

Do you have a brick n mortar Apple Store anywhere near?
If so, probably time to make an appt at the genius bar and have them check it...

Yeah, I have similar erratic experience with 15”/16” MBPs. Sometimes they only accepts power from a only one side, sometimes I have to switch ports. My suspicion is that there are flaws in the USB-C power multiplexer.
