Just got a brand new macbook pro 14 m1pro (after being away from macs since 2011) last night and since I didn't have a previous mac to backup from I started to download all the basic programs I'm familiar with. Started with Chrome as certain sites I visit require chrome... then this morning I noticed and app called "Chromium" which I've never seen before... Started to google what it was and I get two results, open source web browser, and malware... the latter is more prevalent when I add "mac/macbook" to the search and was wondering if this should be a concern? or does it come with Google Chrome now by default? Apologies if this is a dumb question I haven't set up a new mac in ages

also side question: did MacRumors account get wiped or deleted in the last decade or so? I am certain I had one of these accounts when I got a macbook years ago but can't seem to locate it with forgot password...

Macs don't ship with Chromium. That's google software. It was installed when you installed Chrome.
