Mighty Mouse Jumping

I have an wired Apple Mighty Mouse that I bought a few months back.. it worked fine up until a few week ago, the cursor has suddenly started to jump around the screen with increasing frequency to the point that it is too irritating to use it any longer.

I have encountered this problem on both Windows, OS X and Ubuntu. Can I send the mouse back to apple for repair? I tried checking the warranty on the site but the serial code came back as invalid.
