Does anyone know a good way to clean the ball on the mighty mouse?

I use a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol on it on the ball, then turn it upside down and rub the ball in all directions on your mouse pad. That should de-gunk the ball.

Yes, I like the mighty mouse.

It's a bit pricey, and the ball gumming up is a pain, but other than that it's an awesome mouse.

Is there a way to take the ball out?

Yeah.

1. snap off the surround on the bottom
2. pull mouse apart
3. disconnect wiring
4. unscrew touch sensitive bits
5. remove ball sensors
6. pick the tiny movement sensors up off the floor after spending 10 mins looking for them when they flew out after you opened it
7. spend another 20min trying to fit it all back together
8. once it's back together (and never quite the same again), wonder why you didn't just use a "q-tip".

i've opened mine up, and after it got dirty again and again, i realised the rubbing works just as well, but so does rubbing it, while it's pressed down hard, with my finger.

there's no point opening it, it's just a waste of time imo.

i disagree, i went into the apple store thinking that it would be a good mouse but it's not what i expected. the right click is sometimes unregistered and that gets annoying sometimes. also, the horizontal scrolling is not very effective, you can only scroll a little bit at a time. i give it a B

Once you get used to the right clicking action it's fine - just don't apply pressure to the left side (usually achieved by raising your finger up a hair).

I just couldnt grow to love the mighty mouse. I have a wireless logitch red mouse and like it.

I have a wired mighty mouse for anyone that needs one. Im getting the wireless keyboard as well next week. (apple). I also have a gig of so-dimm ram if anyone needs it. ask! :p
