Hello everyone!

Long time lurker, first time poster. I am a long time Macbook Pro user that has NEVER EVER had any problems... until now :)

Last Wednesday I was charging up the MBP, while using it. We had a brown out, then lost power. My computer would not boot up properly after that. I attempted to verify and then repair the disk, that failed. I attempted to restore from my time machine backup and that was failing.

I took it to the Genius Bar and the tech was able to reinstall the operating system for me and instruct me on how to to hook the time machine directly to the MBP and use Migration Assistant to restore from the Time Machine Backup.

I started that process and waited... until this morning. It should have been complete, but when I checked the MBP, the screen was black. I could see a mouse pointer but that was all. I could not do anything, there was just a mouse on a black screen.

I did a hard reboot and the computer is back to the state it was when I left the Mac Store. I am OK with that, it works... but I would REALLY love to be able to at least get my items off of the backup and store them somewhere else. All photos I have ever had, all music... all my everything is on this time capsule.

I am not very familiar with understanding how the time capsule works. Can anyone offer me any suggestions on things I could do at this point? I now know I will be creating a redundant backup system in the future....

Please let me know if I am missing information to help understand my issue better.

Thanks for your time!!!
