Tomorrow I am receiving my new rMPB and I plan on migrating my programs and data from a Time Machine backup. No problem, except my current MBP has a SSD and HDD (in place of the ODD) installed, and way back I felt it was a good idea to move my user directory to the HDD.
So now I have mounted under /Volumes/Data HD/<username> and several links back to SSD for directories that benefit from the extra speed (i.e. ~/Library).
Works like a charm, but I am afraid this may screw up the migration to the new machine as it obviously only has one drive.
Will this get screwed, or will Time Machine/Migration Assistant automagically figure out the old situation and move things to the correct place on the new box?
Or should I clean up the Time Machine backup manually and remove the funny stuff (I am using an empty disk for the migration which will only have 2 TM cycles on it, so it is doable)?
Or should I just migrate over the network from the old machine to the new?
The latter will probably always work ok, but it's obviously the slowest of the options.
Any insights appreciated.
