I am posting this since I've read conflicting information and I wanted to clarify how to move my itunes library with ratings and play count to my new MBP. My music is stored on an external NAS and I was accessing from a pc.

I saw different methods to move the library.
1. Copy the xml file over to the mac and let itunes rebuld the library
2. Copy the itl file and the xml file to the itunes directory and removing the itl extension in the process.
3. Copy the xml file. Do a search and replace on the xml file to replace the old path to my new library path. Corrupt the itl file to force itunes to rebuild the library.

What is the latest thinking on this?
I would like to do 2 assuming leopard 10.5.2 and itunes will recognize the path of my itunes music files on the external drive.
