Migrating a windows machine to a VM

I have a windows machine that I've been using as a server for a while but now I got a Mac Mini to fill that role and I want to sell the windows machine, but I have a setup on it that I need to use occasionally (Outlook, Visual Studio, and some other apps). What's the best way to transfer that machine into a VM that I can run on my laptop (Retina MBP 15") or my Mac Mini server?

VMWare makes a tool for imaging a PC into a VMDK file. You can then use this file in VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox. Personally I recommend VMWare Fusion as it's really simple to use.
