I've had a 2013 MP for quite a while but I am replacing it with an iMac Pro..should be delivered in 2 weeks or so. I've read, searched and watched tutorials on Migration but wondering about some things. My main application is FCPX for 4K video, but have a bunch of other minor apps and documents etc. My big data files are all on external drives so don't need to migrate them, just the systems disk contents. . In the past I have always started fresh and not used migration but I just don't have the time or inclination to install all my apps over again.

1) My old MP is running High Sierra (10.13.6), I assume the new iMac Pro will be 10.14. Will this cause a problem for migration ?

2) Should I use Migration Assistant or do other recommended methods like using a clone ? I do have a recent clone of my MP from CCC

I just want this to go smoothly. In the past I have always started fresh and not used migration but I just don't have the time or inclination to install all my apps over again.

Thanks if you can advise !

At the very least, I'd install FCPX and any other Apple apps new. You can manually migrate the rest from your clone if you like, but up to you.
