So, I bought a used iMac, and want to migrate to the new one using my Time Machine backup. Problem is, I go to Migration Assistant, and it asks for the admin password, which I don't have, and the place I bought it from is closed, of course. I had Lion on my old iMac, and I imagine my Time Machine backup is in Lion, but the iMac I bought has Snow Leopard. What do I do to migrate?

If you do not have an admin password for your new (used) computer... then you will have continual problems. You will need to have access to an account with admin privs. You should be able to boot from your SL CD, and choose a menu option to reset the login password for an admin enabled account. Its been a while since I have done it... but I am 99% sure that is an option.

Do you still have the old iMac? Use that to mac a bootable USB key with Lion on it then use that to wipe the new iMac and do a fresh Lion install. After that use Migration Assist to import your apps/data from the Time Machine backup.
