I'm expecting delivery of a 2012 iMac tomorrow. My previous iMac has died in such a way that it won't boot up at all, but will still function in Target Disk Mode. So I can complete a Migration Assistant run straight off it (or alternately from the Time Machine backup that won't be more than a day out of date), but I haven't been able to boot it up for over six weeks now.
As a result of this, my old iMac is on iTunes 10 still. Also, it's still on iLife '09, because I never upgraded.
The new iMac will presumably come with iTunes 11, and certainly iLife '09.
Any idea how Migration Assistant is likely to cope with this? Am I better off not using it, and getting my data over some other way?
