Migration assistant from cloned FireWire or USB drive?

I may need to ship out my now sold MBP before I get my new iMac set up. Can I do migration assistant from a cloned USB or FireWire drive?

Absolutely. Just make sure you enable permissions on the external drive before you clone it.

I have been making my bootable clone from SuperDuper for the past few months. And I've tried booting from it and it works perfectly. How do I check/enable it's permissions? Or if it's already bootable is it ready to go?

If it boots, then this has already been done. It would fail to boot otherwise.
