Migration assistant: from PowerPC 10.5 to Intel 10.8

I'll have to migrate a PowerPC G5 running Leopard to a Peryn Core 2 Duo that will be running Mountain Lion from next week.

Does the migration assistant accept to migrate from 10.5 to 10.8?
OR can one migrate over to 10.8 only if it's at least Intel or if it's running at least 10.6 / 10.7?
