So I just got my new i5 17inch MBP in the mail yesterday. I decided to run migration assistant from my old MBP (original intel model circa 2006) to my new one. I hooked them up via ethernet cable and let it run overnight to move the 200 gigs of data.

Woke up this morning to a message saying there was 2 minutes left, but that the my older machine was no longer responding. I glanced over at it and it appeared to be fine. Ethernet still plugged in. I could either cancel the migration or continue. Hit continue twice, with it doing whatever for 10 mintues or so and saying "other computer not responing" I finally hit "cancel migration" and it was still in "canceling it" mode when I left for work 30 or so minutes later.

Have people had trouble getting migration assistant to work well? Its snow leapord to snow leapord btw. My last computer was getting kinda buggy after so many years, which is partly why I ordered the new machine. Do you think this is one more instance of it screwing me over?
