I just purchased a new MacBook and used migration assistant to transfer my files using Mac to Mac method. In the past during upgrades I utilized a Time Machine back-up.

During this latest migration using Mac to Mac migration Macports was downloaded and required me to make a profile with password. I did not question as I thought it was an Apple product and I created the profile.

After migration completion I noted that the process created a user profile macports as well as a folder structure.

A little googling identified that this is not an Apple software product and a search of the internet confirmed this.

Is there a security concern with this software? Should I delete or is the normal migration method used now?
