Hello,

Just got a new Mac Pro and used migration assistant... it didn't seem to go as smoothly as i remember it did last time...

My iphoto and itunes libraries did not copy over. I put my old computer in target disk mode but i can't even open the music folder or the photo folder in the user of my old mac. When i try, it tells me that "The folder "Music" can't be opened because you don't have th permission to see its contents"...

... and so i go to info and try to change the permissions to read/write, but nothing changes....

how do i get into these folders to i can copy them?

thanks,

r.

On your new computer, open a new Terminal window and type

cd [space] [drag the home folder from your old computer into the Terminal window and press return]
sudo chown -R [the short name of your account on your new computer] *
[enter your password and press return]
sudo chmod -R u+rw *

Now you should be able to access the data.
