Million Dollar Question?

Hey there,

I have an early appointment in the morning with someone who will do this for $20. I was hoping someone here can save me the money and explain it to me.


I have an Iphone 2G that is running firmware 3.1.3(the latest for the 2G). It is not activated, thus it only has "slide for emergency". I have no At&t sim cards I can put inside of it that have the "Data Plan" on it. I have tried to downgrade it to firmware 2.0 but I get an error "20".

So basically, does anyone know how to first activate it? I can unlock it myself afterwards.

This is actually a $20 question only
You dont need to downgrade it.
You can run redsnow to JB, activate it and unlock it all at once.
Follow this:

When redsnow asks you to point it to your IPSW download this version on your computer and point it to it.

Select install cydia and unlock options only.

When I put the "3.1.3 firmware" inside redsn0w, it says unable to recognize....still feels like a million dollar question

Did you read what I said at the end?
Dont point it to the 3.1.3 ipsw, it wont recognize it.
You gotta download the 3.1.2 ipsw from the link I gave you above and point it to that.
Now wheres my million dollar check?
