My question revolves around forum members' experiences with 3g in the Milwaukee area. As my T-Mobile contract will be ending shortly, I decided to finally pick up an iPhone 4 today at the Bayshore Apple Store in a suburb just north of Milwaukee. I am very happy with the phone itself, but I chose at&t instead of Verizon as my service provider simply because of at&t's faster data network and the five dollars per month I would save over Verizon. The data maps for Verizon and at&t indicate that I ought to have powerful service in the area in which I live (southwestern Riverwest), and throughout various areas of the city's east side and university centers, for both service providers.
However, I have had difficulty connecting to at&t's 3g network not only in my house but in other areas of Riverwest, the Upper and Lower East Side, and the UWM campus, where the iPhone reverts to at&t's Edge network. My question is whether or not other at&t and Verizon users have experienced this in these areas of the city, as I have fourteen days until I can get the Verizon version.
