mime.txt file?

I just sent an email with one attachment, a pdf file. (through Mail)
I CC'ed the message to myself and there seems to be 2 attachments on the file; the pdf file and a file that is 1 byte in size called 'mime.txt'. I opened it but there is no text in it.
Why and how did it get attached?

Please don't tell me this is a virus?!!

It's not a virus, it's just a file that tells some mail clients about the file attached.
