I know this is the 100,000th router post but....
I need one with some house/yard range. I would normally just bite the bullet and buy an extreme base station, but the pre-n and gigabit ethernet issues have me stuck. Will apple be able to ugrade the pre-ns? What is the real downside to not having gigabit in the foreseeable future (for home use)?

Thanks.

Not having gigabit sucks, but the Airport is one of the nicest router I have used in a long time. There is a Buffalo router... the HP-54G or something, that actually outranges the Airport by a huge margin, and costs a lot cheaper too at only $60.

It is 802.11G but if you want range you might want to look into that instead.
