Mine is MBP is faster then my dads new MBP?

so, on this pas saturday i got a refurb MBP (2.4) and my dad went to best buy and got the same one, new on sale. and mine is soo much faster then his, everything boots faster, mine is faster on the internet, any reason for that?

did your dad import his old stuff from a diff comp/time machine backup?
