Minecraft on a Mac from a PC?

Hi Guys,
My 8 year old granddaughter is all into Minecraft. She has built her worlds on a PC.
I have a 2014 Retina iMac 27". If I install Minecraft for a Mac on my iMac for her to use when she comes over, can I bring over her saved worlds from the PC over to my Mac and have it work the same? Or does she just have to start all over?
Also, what about mods?
She has some mods installed on the PC that she really likes.
In searching for mods, they just have download links but don't specify whether they are for PC or Mac. Does that mean they can be used for both?
Sorry, but I don't really know anything about Minecraft, much less how to convert it to mac so any basic info and/or advise is greatly appreciated.

The save games are definitely compatible. Most mods are too, except for some graphic mods. Some don't seem to have Mac compatible installers, though.
