land of confusion
So I have a 2018 mini that all of a sudden will no longer connect to the internet unless it is hard wired. Problem being is, we need to move where it is located away from the router and want to use wifi.

I have a Netgear Nighthawk R8000p. I have no issues with any other computers, or items. That includes 2 windows work computers, a 2010 MBP, 3 ipads, 4 iphones, 3 xboxs, multiple tvs..... The only one with any issue is the Mac Mini.

It will connect to the wifi no problems with a full signal, but there is no connection to the internet. I've done the reset of the wifi on the computer. Changed "location". Cleared all wifi networks it had been connected too and reconnected to our home wifi. Still no go.

The odd thing is if I link it to my phone using a mobile hotspot, it will have an internet connection.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like your problem may be similar to this one, although it does not appear to be resolved yet?

What does your network preferences show as far IP address etc.? And on the advanced tab TCP/IP?

I am willing to bet, DHCP scope is maxed out. So, it may show 'connected', but, doe it have an IP address?
Can it ping anything?

Depending on the settings on your Router, the DHCP scope might need to be expanded, or reduce the timeline for devices IP addresses from a week, to a few days or something. That will allow devices to pick newer IP addresses as they try to connect...

I think this may have been it. Looking in my netgear app, it was holding onto the mini as still being plugged in. After my 5th full reset of the modem and router that dropped off. I was then able to reestablish the wifi on my mini and I can connect to the internet.
