Have the Apple folio which is great but also want a case with no screen cover. I have one and tried others but the side where the Apple Pencil attaches is always thin, flimsy and pulls out whilst holding. Is there one out there that is sturdy that side? I don't use a Pencil but appreciate case makers are accommodating those that do.

Can be clear backed or not and definitely not have a hole for the Apple logo on the back (why do they do that? 🤷🏻).

This is the tiMOVO one I have, one of the better ones I've tried but still not good enough for me to enjoy using.

I believe Otterbox makes a case with sturdy sides and no screen cover. It might be too bulky for your preference though. The way they get around no screen cover is the big edges.

No this is one of my favorite features of some cases. I’ve seen iPhone cases with this feature as well. This way my iPad doesn’t get confused with a 🗑️ android device 😂

I’m using this case on my mini 7, but they have it for other iPad sizes. It’s very sturdy and has held my Apple Pencil pro in place very well. Not once has it fell out. I’ve been very pleased with this case and looking to buy for my iPad Pro when I’m not using the Brydge keyboard.

Thanks, I don't use a Pencil so the holder will be redundant. I like how the Defender deals with that and is hidden. Thanks very much for the reccommendation though @StaceyMJ86 . 👍🏻

I've ordered the Otterbox Defender and will give it a go when it arrives tomorrow. The hole I wasn't keen on has a cover so that's all good.
The right hand side just needs to not pull out when holding.

The Otterbox Defender arrived today and unfortunately it's going back.

A few things put me off, mainly the rear on the side of the pencil 'door' bulges a little and doesn't feel good holding as it feels squidgey. The plastic covering the hole in the back is too thin and had a lot of give which again doesn't feel great when holding.
Lastly the pencil door creaks in the hand.

Overall I wouldn't pay £20 let alone the nearly £49 it cost.

I don't think there is a case out there for my needs so will just carry on with the Apple Folio.

any of cheap cases will do basic protection

Yes but they all have the thinner right side for the pencil magnets. This makes them flimsy on that side and pull away when holding right handed. Not comfortable to me.
There just isn't going to be one out there with equally sturdy sides as they all accommodate the pencil magnets. Ah well.

Folio is the go, no need to add any bulk to the mini
I love the Folio but find it a bit sharp on my palm. I have big hands and can hold the mini like my iPhone Pro Max.
I've started taking the Folio off when using lately and it's bliss. I would prefer a bit of minimal protection on the edges but it's not a huge issue in my use case.
