Mini Display Port input signal

I'm not sure if this question should go here, or in the iMac thread (mods, please feel free to move if this is in the wrong spot) but has anyone heard anything about Apple updating OSX Mavericks so that Mini Display Ports (specifically on a 27" iMac) can accept 1080p signal, rather than the current 720p limit? I'm trying to get my PS4 on on my beautiful 27" iMac in my man cave/office and 720p isn't cutting it...
