So i bought a mini display port to hdmi converter and im running an hdmi to RCA cable from to my tv. I dont really know how to set it up to put out the video. I went into displays and clicked detect displays and nothing showed up and theres nothing but a blue screen on my tv.

HDMI = Digital
RCA = Analog

So as far as I know, it won't work. Does your TV have HDMI input? The signal must be either digital from end to end or analog from end to end to work properly without converters.

no my tv does not have an hdmi import. wish it did it would make things a heck of alot easier. so why would the sell an hdmi to rca cable that doesnt make sense the cable has to work some how.

There are converters for that but I think just a simple cable won't do it. VGA is analog so you could change the adapter for MDP to VGA and then buy VGA to RCA adapter, that should work as the signal is analog from end to end
