Hi, I want to get a monitor which has this "VGA D-Sub" connector. Is this compatible with the Mini Display Port to VGA adapter from Apple?

How about this:

I have a bunch of those old DVI->VGA adapters Apple use to include with its various products.

Can one go

Mini Display Port -> DVI - Adapter + DVI -> VGA - Adapter?

It doesn't work. The DisplayPort to DVI adapter is missing some pins for the DVI to VGA adapter to work. I tried to do that to save some money by not buying the DisplayPort to VGA adapter, but I ended up having to pay for that adapter.

So the Display Port adapter is DVI-D not DVI-I?

UUUGGG - Why Apple why?

If Display Port can output VGA and DVI why not output DVI-I?

I guess to make more coin. Not only are they not including the adapter anymore but forcing us to buy more and more of the (previously included) value added products.
