I'm about ready to get the base model Studio. This is replacing a 2012 Mini (which is working fine but has gotten bogged down with newer DAWs and Synths)

Currently I'm using it's HDMI port to run one display and a mini display port connector into it's TB port to run a second display. I assume the Studio's HDMI will work just the same, will one of those USB C male to female Mini Display Port adapter work using one of the Studio's TB ports.... (It's confusing.... TB and USB C using same connectors and the TB port can act as TB or USB C afaik) 🧐

I suppose I could get one of them Satechi or similar USB C hubs that also come with a HDMI port and connect second monitor to that. I hope there'd be no bandwith issues if I also had a USB 3 drives and USB 2 peripherals running through such a hub at the same time.... stuff like controllers, keyboards that are used in home recording studios

What kind of display is the one connected using Mini DisplayPort? What display connectors does it have?

There's two kinds of USB-C to female Mini DisplayPort adapters:
One is for connecting a DisplayPort display
The other is for connecting a Thunderbolt 1 or Thunderbolt 2 display or dock or device.

You might want a single cable to connect from the Mac's USB-C port to the display - to eliminate problems that might happen with chaining multiple adapters/cables.

Sorry I should have said. Two Dell U2412m 16:10. They both have HDMI and Displayport. I have one using the mini's HDMI port and a mini displayport connector/cable in the thunderbolt port running the second monitor.

I'm thinking these items should work:

or

These would give the option of either running second monitor via HDMI or continue as I was via the displayport connection.

Those adapters are fine.

The specs for the Dell U2412M show a DVI port instead of a HDMI port. Are you using a HDMI to DVI adapter?

The Dell U2412M has a full size DisplayPort port. Consider using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable. Choose a bidirectional cable so that it can also be used in the reverse direction (DisplayPort to USB-C) in case you get a USB-C display that you want to connect to a DisplayPort port of a PC or Thunderbolt dock. I have not tried this one:

Alternatively, You can connect two displays to a single Thunderbolt port using a Thunderbolt dock or Thunderbolt hub or a Thunderbolt to Dual HDMI Adapter or a Thunderbolt to Dual DisplayPort Adapter.

etc. (avoid DualLink which uses USB instead of DisplayPort)

Note: when pasting amazon links, you can usually delete everything after the first question-mark ? character, like this:

but be sure to test the shortened url to make sure it still works.

Thanks for the product links and help with posting links.

Sorry for my error... looking at display prefs my monitors are Dell u2415. Those do have HDMI.

Also bought these adapters.... a USB-C > HDMI and a USB-C > Mini Displayport

Those adapters should work. The links don't need the parameters that begin with ? so you can replace them with these:

'Oops I did it again' 🎶

Those links created those description box things so I had to figure out how to get rid of that. Found the word 'unfurl' within the [ ] [ /] things and deleted that word. That took care of that. I did then shorten the url but neglected to go all the way to before the '?' as you said to do. I'll remember what to do now, heh.

I post the links on separate lines that begin with a space character.
Here is a link with no space at the beginning of the line:

Here is a link with a space at the beginning of the line (before https):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07THJGZ9Z

Both links are automatically converted to use a URL BB code when you save the post (if the URL isn't already surrounded by the URL BB code).
The one with no space at the beginning of the line gets a unfurl=true in the URL BB code automatically.
The one with a space doesn't get an unfurl. Entering a URL with a space before it is a quick way to remove the unfurl option.

They both get a ?tag=mrforums-20 automatically added to the URL when you mouse over or click on them because they are Amazon links and MacRumors can get a commission.
