using the Mini Display Port on the new 17" macbook pro could i connect my 32" Sony LCD TV thanks

If your TV has a VGA port you most likely want one of these.

Don't worry about the bad reviews, most of those are because it doesn't work with some Samsung TV's.

There is also a third party adapter allowing you to hook it up via HDMI, I'm not sure if its out yet but someone will link you up.

I use Mini DisplayPort to VGA to hook up to my LG 37" tele - works a charm.

I actually really like Mini DisplayPort - just for the size and the ease of putting it in and out. No need for such a huge adapter.
