I recentrly bought a new Macbook Pro (the one with thunderbolt port) and this mini displayport to DVI/HDMI adapter:

Problem is that it doesn't work. I have a HP x22 monitor and when I plug the whole thing into the macbook I get "Input type not supported" on my monitor. The display is detected as HP x22 and the correct resolution is selected (other resolutions don't work). I tried the adapter on another display - the same thing. Then I tried it on a TV with HDMI-HDMI cable and this worked correctly. So I went and tried HDMI to DVI cable and this didn't work. So HDMI to HDMI works but I can't connect a DVI monitor. Any ideas?

To answer my own question - buy an original adapter. Went to the store and bought the Apples mini DP to DVI adapter and it works. So the cheap one only does HDMI out. At least that is something.
