mini Displayport to HDMI

i've searched everywhere and can't find a solution. I have a 21.5 inch iMac with Lion 10.7.1 I bought the Moshi Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter. I hook everything up and my tv and iMac do not see each other. In system preferences under displays i tried hitting detect displays and nothing happens. any suggestions?

for starters, just try setting the mac display to 720p.

Is this a 2011 model. The Moshi website says it supports up to the 2010 model iMac and the Moshi discussion forums have a lot of complaints about that adapter. Perhaps it is defective.
