mini dp to hdmi question

i recently bought third party mini dp to hdmi cable.. not the adapter but just a single cable.. its works okay but then it starts to go in and out like 20 30 mins. my tv and macbook screen turns blue.. picture freezes and u see snow like images. also the the end that goes into my macbook gets hot overtime

i was wondering if the cord thats the issue or could it be my mini dp outlet on my macbook

for your sake it could be the cable. I used to run a monoprice minidp to HDMI adapter and never had any problems.

You could always go out to your local electronics store and grab a cable and adapter to test. If those work, then keep 'em but if the problem persists, return 'em.

Otherwise, you may have to configure some settings in the Displays pane of System Preferences or you may be experiencing problems with the graphics card.
