mini dvds taken with camcorder how do I get them on imovie

I've got several of these mini dvds and I'd like to get them onto my MacBook Pro.

Any ideas?

You need a tray (NOT slot*) loading optical disc drive, they cost around 30 €.

Or you could get the camcorder the footage was recorded with.

If you go the ODD route, you have to transcode the footage before importing into iMovie.

You are confused. The OP needs a tray-loading optical drive.

Not anymore, but yes, you are correct, I meant tray-loading drive (I was about the write slot-.... again).

@OP: As you still have the camera, try connecting it via USB (it should have a USB port on it somewhere) and set into PLAY/VCR mode, open iMovie and select to import from a camera.
