mini dvi help?!!

i just bought a new dynex mini dvi-to-dvi adapter for my macbook (2008) and it doesnt work. when i plug it in to the computer, it detects it, but my tv doesnt. i know the problem isnt the tv because i tried it with my pc computer...

What happens when you go into Displays in System Preferences? And what types of content are you trying to push to the other screen?

nothing happens. i want to mirror the image, but how...?!

Clicking "Detect Displays" does nothing? If so, restart the mac and try again. After you click detect displays you should be able to at least determine whether the computer recognizes that an external display is connected.
