I was wondering if anyone makes a mini-DVI to DVI cable, so that I can hook up my PB 12" to my external monitor without using the pesky little mini-DVI to DVI adapter.

nope, adapter it is.
 
I don't think so. The mini-DVI connector is proprietary and Apple includes them with PBs and sells replacement connectors. So I guess there's no money to be made for a third-party supplier. :)

it be interesting to see the marketing research on this.
 
Hmm, didn't realize that mini-DVI was proprietary, it's hard to tell since you don't often find DVI ports in notebooks. In contrast, mini-VGA ports are quite common in subnotebooks, for example, my old Sony Vaio SR had one.
