iPad mini Mini: variation with clarity?

I finally had a chance to handle a few iPads today at Best Buy. They did not have the rMini out (though they were in stock they were sealed) but I was still happy with the screen of the original. The weird thing is they had two side by side, and one looked better than the other. Just clearer. But it was definitely an original. Is there a known issue of variation with the Mini displays?
