Long story short,

I have two 2014 MacMini, one is hooked to an old CinemaDisplayHD 23" through MDP to DVI to ADC through the Apple brick (big and heavy) and the other to a recent cheap 21.5" HP screen through HDMI, the screen has got an extra VGA port and it could come handy to switch from one computer to another rather than to have two screens (for as much as I love the CinemaDisplay Plexiglas design they are huge, the standing foot broke and the whole thing from ADC to DVI is a big mess).

Could I use an adapter to go from MDP or HDMI to VGA as to eliminate the need for two screens?

Sure I will still need two keyboards mice but that's ok, I can eventually switch just one on the fly since the slowest of the two Minis only serve as a file server or for very occasional use (the damn 1.4Ghz i5 4GB spinning disk is a paaaaaaaaain to use).

Grazie

Giovanni
