My gf just bought her first Mac. An all new white macbook with snow leopard (10.6.2).
She also bought a Dell ST2410 24" tft monitor and Minidisplayport to DVI-D adapter and a full coupled 5m DVI-D cable.

When I connect the screen to my macbook (or hers) the usual blue "blink" is visible on the macbook screen but the external monitor doesn't recognize any input at all, it just goes to sleep. I've tried to change input controller on screen, checked all cables and nothing seems to work.

The adapter is brand new and should be working. Firstly I tested with a "china" adapter but then went for the genuine apple one, but same results with both. The cable is also brand new.

Have anyone had the same problem and know any fix for it? Or is it the screen?
