Minimize to hide?

Is it possible to tweak the minimize to the dock to auto hide the window instead?

You mean Command + H?

Command + H will 'hide' the app i.e. get rid of any open windows. However the icon remains 'open' in the dock. Just click the icon to get everything back how it was.

Command + M minimises the active window to the dock.
