Hi, I'm on a 2011 MBP 15inch and back on SL I could have sworn the minimum fan speed I could set it to in SMC fan control was 2000, and now it's 4000 on Lion. Any reason for this or how I can change it? I don't think I like it being that loud.
Sorry this has probably been asked before

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

My 2011 15" MBP is still running at 2000 RPM with Lion.

Hmmm...
another thing its doing, is that I can now bring it all the way up to 8000rpm instead of 6200

here's a picture of the 4000 minimum

My fans are running higher in Lion than in SL but I use my MBP in clamshell mode with a 27" ACD...I do find my MBP running overall about 4 to 5 degrees hotter in Lion overall...

Same problem, really loud fans as I just installed Lion
on Aug. 8. MBP 17". I am thinking of going back to Snow
Leopard, this is not acceptable.

not what I asked

Perhaps just let Lion control the fans. Why do you need a third party software for that? On my machine the fans are running at 2000 rpm most of the time.

Most likely the fans were already running at 4000 when you installed SMC. Uninstall it, reset smc, make sure fans are down to 2000, then reinstall smc fan controller.

this worked! i closed smc then used AppCleaner to totally get rid of it, then put my computer into sleep, then downloaded smc again, put it in Applications and launched.

thanks!
