Minolta Lense Buying Advice

Okay all you photographers out there, I want to buy a telephoto zoom lense my Minolta Dynax 505si Super, I'm looking at the 75-300mm lense.

But some reviews say this lense is a bit slow.

Can someone give me some advice.
