Under OS 10.8 if I changed the color of a folder it changed the background of the whole folder name to make a large colorful strip. I had several folders set this way to identify them quickly. Now in 10.9 there is just a small colored dot next to the folder which is harder to see. Is there a way to make it more obvious? Are there any aftermarket finders that can do that?

Also is there a way to change the dashboard and login backgrounds back to the old style? I'm not a fan of the new flat gray scheme.
