I've recently acquired a lombard powerbook and i'd like to make some adjustments to it so that i can use it on the road with my digital camera
and run OS X
currently the thing has a 6 gig hard drive and about 128 megs of ram

my question is will newer 2.5" hard drives fit into this machine?
can i get a DVD player or at least a CD-r/CD-rw to fit into the expansion bay?

could i get wireless internet on it through the PCIMI slot because i don't think airport will work.

could anyone suggest a good Firewire expansion card? i need firewire and this machine doesn't have it.

and finally what would a second battery run me?

thanks a lot guys

Try Other World Computing... they have a list of PowerBooks and you can select yours and the different types of upgrades (at least to get an idea of what's possible...)

http://www.macsales.com

Scroll to the bottom and click on 'Memory'. The next screen will allow you to choose your PBook. Then you can get more options then just memory (hard drives, processor upgrades etc.).

Good Luck! :)

edit: For bad link. Now fixed.

www.mcetech.com the HD's are a tad expencive but there your only option for optical drives for the HD you can use any 2.5" HD owc are expencive for those look in pc shops they are cheaper and work installation is fiddley

thanks a lot ... this was really good ... saved me a fortune compared to some of the local retailers i got in touch with
