Miracast dominates Airplay... what are apple doing about it?

Miracast absolutely destroys airplay in terms of usability. when will Apple make airplay more flexible or adopt miracast?

(for those that dont know, basically miracast allows you to plug a small HDMI dongle into any screen and mirror or extend your windows or android screen, no wifi or setup needed.)
