Miss the on-screen Home&Multitasking buttons

Surprisingly, the one thing I miss most as I'm trying to move back from Android to iOS are on screen buttons (that don't need to be physically compressed) to switch apps or just get back to my home screen. I may sound like a whiner but having to physically press that home button once or twice really disrupts my workflow. On my iPad I can at least go Home with on screen gestures, but there seems to be no such thing for the iPhone.

Is this something I'll have to live with if I want to stick with iOS?

Whether you like them or not, they are much faster to access and use.

They are also less cumbersome to use: with the iPhone you need to first get a solid grip to be able to compress the buttons, with a vanilla Android phone like the Nexus or Moto X you can use them eve if you have the phone just laying on your palm.
